I’d like to introduce you to something that i’ve put my blood, sweat, and tears into... Sync Therapy.
It started because I enjoyed helping people when I was younger but it’s grown into a fire that pulls me into that direction. There is so much false information out in the media about foods or health, people don’t know the full capabilities of the human body, and we have an autoimmune disease, chronic disease, mental health epidemic.
Our health is being challenged like never before in history, you’ve seen the headlines “Our food and lifestyle are making us sick and fat”. Add this to our ever increasing stress levels from work and media, and our decreases in sleep. The need for proper nourishment, movement, and self-care is pressing and under appreciated.
Thankfully, the foundations for great health are delicious and easy to follow. As the focus on health, nutrition, and wellness grows, so does the role of food in medicine. Being an Athletic Therapist and Massage Therapist in Victoria, BC was only able to get me so far in the ability to help people, this is where nutrition comes in. It’s the missing link to speed your bodies healing process and decrease all types of pain but it does more than just that. Diet is huge in the care of all diseases, such as depression, anxiety, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, thyroid disease but it can also help out with cramps, gas, bloating, and headaches
I never knew the power of food until I discovered it myself. I was the kind of person that would walk up to 7-11 and get a 2L slushy and a couple bags of candy while I came back to play video games for hours. I was also addicted to ice capps, it’s what I was known for. I was having them anywhere between 2-4x a day for a couple years (no exaggeration). I also had acne and anxiety (didn’t know until I look back). I went to the doctor for help and I prescribed an antibiotic... and another one... and another one... nothing seemed to help. I asked him about if there’s any food that might help. He chuckled and
said that my acne wasn’t caused by food.
So I went to see a specialist because it was only getting worse, I had deep cystic acne now. It was painful, uncomfortable, and worst of all... embarrassing. I never took any photos for that reason. The specialist put me on Accutane, which was slightly effective butit took months and it came back once I stopped. Accutane is discontinued and there’s a class-action lawsuit against it for causing serious injuries such as Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, or inflammatory bowel disease. I have gut troubles now but nothing diagnosed and nothing that I can’t manage with my diet and lifestyle changes. I still have my ice capps but they’re homemade with ingredients that support me.
After I saw significant (and lasting) change in my body, I was hooked. I take great pride in using food and lifestyle changes that are tailored to each person to achieve their goals.
The greatest moments in my business are watching my clients grow and achieve things that they thought they couldn’t do. Whether it’s reducing fibromyalgia pain from 10/10 down to a 2/10 with food (and a couple lifestyle changes) and enjoy the things she couldn’t do before. It’s also the person that was able to get off their anti-depressant (with doctors help) and make huge changes to their life that they wouldn’t be able to on their own... all with food and lifestyle changes.
